Dominie Dunbrook has been working in the fields of funding advice and grant management for over 15 years. She has a comprehensive knowledge of different types of funding sources gained while working for the Big Lottery Fund, in the voluntary sector and in local government, where she has managed large european grant programmes. Dominie has provided funding advice to all sectors during her career and has helped many organisations secure the resources they need to take their projects forward. Jenny Archard's key areas are forest school activities, group facilitation, training and project/organisational development. With her background in the outdoors, training and personal development, Jenny has a focused and participatory approach to the needs of clients from a variety of sectors. Her skills in facilitating groups are used in settings including evaluation, project development, staff / team awaydays and mediation. Jenny currently runs Forest School sessions in the Blackdown Hills and until recently, managed a European funding programme for the Blackdown Hills and East Devon Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Past work includes supporting the Regional ChangeUp programme and development of Infrastructure Strategy South West; work with Devon and Cornwall Constabulary; evaluation for East Dorset District Council, training for World Vision; team days for St Sidwells and Exeter Community Initiatives; training and development support for Devonport Community Regeneration Partnership, training and research for the Community Council of Devon.
Sam Magne's key focus is helping organisations to identify, learn from and disseminate good practice. With her professional origins in civil engineering, Sam uses an analytical and strategic approach combined with participatory processes. Her work in international and UK development has included needs assessment, project and programme management and evaluation, funding assessment, training, facilitation and capacity building. She is also the author of two key resources produced from her Devon based social research work on social exclusion – ‘Multi-Ethnic Devon’ and ‘Open Hearts Open Minds‘. She was Creative Director and Manager of the on-line social inclusion learning service Open Hearts Open Minds, and its popular learning tools are now hosted on the Red Door website. Sam has worked with clients including Devon Strategic Partnership, Devon Race Equality Council, Exeter Community Initiatives, South Somerset PCT, SHRINE, the University of Plymouth, Diocese of Exeter, Devon and Cornwall Magistrates Association, the LINKS project, Sure Starts Tamar FOLK and Keystone, Intercom Trust, Plymouth City Council.
Angela McTiernan's key areas are evaluation, consultation and training. Her main focus is on work with community and voluntary sector groups or the agencies that support these groups, and she has worked with a range of clients from small community groups to national agencies. Her particular specialisms include consultation, research & evaluation; training; project planning & development; funding advice and grant appraisal and organisation of events. All her work is carried out with the aims of inclusion, empowerment and learning, ensuring that clients gain as much as possible from her input. Key work has included consultation for Living Options Devon, running focus groups for The Community College, Broadclyst, evaluation for North Devon Women's Aid and work with a number of Children's Centres in the South West.
Sarah Taragon's key areas are evaluation, research and consultation. She has been working freelance since 2001, mainly within the South West. Her background is in the not-for-profit sector, including seven years working for infrastructure organisations within the voluntary sector. Sarah has a Masters degree in Social Research Methods, and a Bachelor degree in Social Psychology and Sociology. Sarah combines her knowledge and experience of formal research methods with a commitment to participation and the active involvement of all partners. She enjoys working with a range of clients from small grass roots groups (eg village hall committees) to national organisations (eg Heritage Lottery Fund, Community Development Foundation). Recent clients include: Blackdown Hills AONB; TorrAGE (a project supporting older people); SWAN (the South West ACRE Network); Exeter City Council's Royal Albert Memorial Museum and a number of Children's Centres in the South West.
Paul Tucker is a successful bid writer with many years’ experience who has helped many organisations secure grant funding. He has also managed and assessed a range of local authority, european and voluntary sector grant programmes, a number of which he has been instrumental in designing. Paul specialises in providing a service that is individually tailored to the requirements of each organisation, helping them clarify their funding requirements, interpret grant making criteria, matching projects with appropriate grant schemes and working closely with applicants to prepare a robust and convincing case for grant aid. Paul takes an inclusive approach to working with organisations and will share the skills and techniques required to develop future bids. In addition to this, Paul is an experienced trainer and conference speaker. His daily funding bulletins are well known and widely circulated throughout the south west. Paul is a member of the Institute of Fundraisers and has a Masters degree in Organisational Strategic Management from the University of Bristol .
